United States grocery chain Aldi is recalling approximately 28,000 single-serve coffee makers under the Ambiano brand name due to reports of hot water spewing from the tops of machines causing burns.

Aldi sold the machines, designed for use with Keurig-style pods, at stores in 38 states and the District of Columbia from July 2023 through September 2023 for $49.99.

In a recall notice, Aldi said it has received 25 reports of machines โ€œexpelling hot water,โ€ including reports of skin burns.

The machines were manufactured by an unnamed partner in China and imported by Aldi from the companyโ€™s corporate headquarters in Batavia, Illinois.

The Ambiano-brand machines in question were sold in gray, blue, pink, and purple colors, measuring approximately 12 inches high, 4.7 inches wide and 11 inches long. The model numbers are 708924 and 708925.

Aldi has been selling Ambiano-branded electronic kitchen products for years, including various coffee brewers, blenders, a stand mixer and multiple generations of the Keurig-compatible machine.

The Ambiano single-serve machines have been part of the โ€œAldi Findsโ€ program, in which specific products are available only in physical store locations for limited runs.

โ€œIf an item sells well, it could come back as an ALDI Find throughout the year or even be added to our everyday selection,โ€ the company says in a description of the sales program. โ€œOur goal is always to provide fun and exciting ALDI Finds shoppers will love!โ€

In the recall notice, Aldi said users should immediately stop using the recalled machines, which can be returned to Aldi stores for a $49.99 cash refund, or they may register their recalled machine here for a $75 Aldi electronic gift card.
